Adani Solar to Expand Its Business Base in Kerala

Adani Solar, the solar PV manufacturing arm of the Adani Group, announced its plans to expand its operations in Kerala, recognising the state’s significant potential in the solar energy market.

On Friday, the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kochi-based Almiya Group, a well-established solar distributor, to act as its official partner in Kerala. As part of its strategic expansion, Adani Solar plans to install a 225 MW solar power plant in Purapura within the next year. To facilitate efficient distribution and faster delivery of solar panels to Kerala and Tamil Nadu, the company has also established a warehouse in Coimbatore. The solar panels, entirely manufactured in India, are touted to be of superior quality with a higher production capacity compared to other products available in the Asian market.

The partnership with Almiya Group is expected to enhance Adani Solar’s market penetration in Kerala. Almiya Group has a long-standing relationship with Adani Solar and previously collaborated on a 45 MW solar plant project in Tamil Nadu. Adani Solar currently holds a commanding 50 percent market share in India’s residential solar panel market. Additionally, Adani Group is exploring the implementation of solar energy solutions at the Vizhinjam International Sea Port, which is being developed by Adani Ports. This move underscores Adani Group’s commitment to leveraging renewable energy across its infrastructure projects.

By expanding its footprint in Kerala, Adani Solar aims to capitalise on the state’s growing demand for sustainable energy solutions, reinforcing its position as a leader in the Indian solar energy sector. The collaboration with Almiya Group is poised to drive significant growth and operational efficiency in the region.
