Chennai’s electricity network will experience a planned suspension on Sunday, March 8, as authorities undertake essential maintenance across several localities in the Ponneri region. The temporary power shutdown, set between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM, aims to reinforce the city’s electrical infrastructure and mitigate the risk of unplanned outages during peak demand periods. Officials have indicated that the maintenance will involve servicing critical transformers, inspecting and repairing power lines, and upgrading feeder systems that supply electricity to residential and commercial sectors. Areas specifically expected to experience the outage include Velodai, Vairavan Kuppam, Eliyambedu, Periyakavanam, Mahindra City, Krishnapuram, and Kanagambakkam, while nearby localities connected to the same distribution lines may also face brief interruptions.
