Cyberabad Police Crack Down on Reckless Bikers 50 Two-Wheelers Seized

Hyderabad: In a significant move to curb dangerous biking stunts plaguing the IT corridor, Cyberabad police initiated a massive crackdown resulting in the confiscation of 50 motorcycles and the booking of several cases against riders.

The operation, conducted between Saturday midnight and the early hours of Sunday, targeted bikers engaging in reckless racing and stunts along the stretch between ITC Kohenur and T-Hub. According to police sources, the seized motorcycles belonged to individuals hailing from various parts of the city, primarily comprising private employees and students. Cases have been filed against these individuals under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Motor Vehicles (MV) Act, including Sections 336 (endangering life or safety), 341 (wrongful restraint), and 184 (dangerous driving). A police official from the Raidurgam station stated, “The seized bikes will be handed over to the Regional Transport Office (RTO) for further action, and the riders will be presented before the court.” The crackdown was initiated following numerous complaints from commuters regarding the disturbance caused by these bikers, including noise pollution from modified exhaust systems.

It was revealed that these bikers, organized in small groups from different localities, often gather along the IT corridor to perform stunts in front of large crowds. Communication among them is facilitated through social media platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp, where event timings are shared. Typically, these ‘shows’ occur on weekend nights and extend into the early hours of the following day, with videos of their stunts frequently shared and circulated on social media. While law enforcement managed to seize 50 bikes and apprehend their riders, some bikers managed to evade capture. The crackdown underscores the authorities’ commitment to ensuring public safety and curbing reckless behavior on Hyderabad’s roads.
