Bengaluru Residents to Face Disruption Due to Water Supply Maintenance

BENGALURU: Residents of Bengaluru are advised to prepare for a temporary disruption in water supply on June 6 and June 7, as announced by the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), the civic agency overseeing water supply in the city.

This interruption is necessitated by maintenance work associated with the Cauvery Stage V project, according to a recent report. As part of this maintenance, all pumping stations will be temporarily suspended on June 6, impacting water supply across the city.

Initially scheduled for June 4 and June 5, the shutdown of the Cauvery River supply units has been rescheduled by engineers. As per the latest update, water supply from Cauvery Stages 1, 2, and 3 will cease for 12 hours, from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. Furthermore, the water supply units of the fourth stage, including the 1st and 2nd phases, will be offline for four hours, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, on both days. This disruption will affect all areas serviced by the BWSSB.

Residents in the affected zones are urged to use water judiciously during the scheduled maintenance period. Additionally, they are advised to store an adequate supply of water to mitigate the impact of the two-day water cut.

The BWSSB has requested cooperation from residents during this time, as officials conduct essential maintenance and repair works while striving to minimize inconvenience to the public.

The temporary disruption underscores the importance of proactive maintenance to ensure the efficiency and reliability of Bengaluru’s water supply infrastructure.
