Thane Records Highest Minimum Temperature Rains in Nearby Areas

Thane experienced light rains in select areas such as Kamothe, Panvel, and Kalyan on Monday afternoon.

These showers, though brief, provided relief from the scorching heat temporarily. However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts dry conditions for the remainder of the day across Mumbai. Looking ahead to Tuesday, the IMD forecasts light rains and thundershowers in parts of Thane and Raigad, contrasting with dry weather expected in Mumbai. Despite the sporadic showers, Mumbai witnessed no rainfall throughout the day.

The standout feature of Monday’s weather was the remarkably high minimum temperatures recorded in Mumbai. The IMD’s Santacruz observatory noted night temperatures reaching 30 degrees Celsius, exceeding normal levels by 2.3 degrees. Similarly, the Colaba observatory recorded minimum temperatures of 28.7 degrees Celsius, surpassing the normal range by one degree. Meanwhile, day temperatures hovered around 35.6 degrees Celsius at the Colaba observatory and 35.5 degrees Celsius at the Santacruz observatory. This surge in minimum temperatures raises concerns about heat-related discomfort, highlighting the need for adequate measures to mitigate the impact of rising temperatures on public health and well-being. With the official onset date for the monsoon over Mumbai slated for June 11, residents eagerly anticipate relief from the sweltering heat as the monsoon season approaches.
