Swift Action by Hyderabad DRF on Rain Issues

Hyderabad: In response to the heavy downpour on Wednesday evening, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) swiftly mobilised its Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams to address rain-related issues. Between 2 pm and 7 pm, the DRF teams received a total of 25 complaints, resolving 21 of them as of the latest reports.

The complaints primarily involved issues such as waterlogging, uprooted trees, fallen tree branches, and catch pits. The rapid deployment of the DRF teams underscores GHMC’s commitment to efficiently managing and mitigating the adverse effects of sudden rainfall. In anticipation of the heavy rainfall, the GHMC’s Directorate of Enforcement Vigilance and Disaster Management (EV&DM) issued an advisory, urging residents to report rain-related emergencies. Citizens were advised to contact the GHMC-DRF through the helpline numbers 040-21111111 or 9000113667 for assistance.

The proactive measures taken by the DRF teams highlight the importance of preparedness and swift response in urban disaster management. As Hyderabad continues to experience unpredictable weather patterns, the effectiveness of the DRF’s actions serves as a crucial component in ensuring public safety and maintaining urban resilience. The concerted efforts of the GHMC and its disaster response units play a pivotal role in minimising the disruption caused by severe weather events, thereby safeguarding the well-being of the city’s residents.
