Siegwerk Unveils Cutting-Edge Solar Power Park in Rajasthan

Siegwerk, a global leader in printing inks and coatings, has made a significant stride towards environmental sustainability with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art solar power park in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, on the occasion of World Environment Day 2024.

This groundbreaking facility, spanning 2.7 acres, is equipped with cutting-edge technology capable of generating an impressive 2,028,000 kilowatt-hours (KWh) of electricity annually. Situated in Jaisalmer, a region renowned for its abundant solar radiation, the solar park benefits from approximately 20% higher solar radiation compared to locations like Bhiwadi. This enhanced solar exposure ensures efficient electricity generation, catering to Siegwerk’s energy requirements at its Bhiwadi site while significantly reducing carbon emissions by an estimated 1,843 tons per year.

The successful integration of the solar park into the grid, facilitated through an agreement with a DISCOM, marks a pivotal moment in Siegwerk’s commitment to sustainable energy practices. Official power drawl from the solar park commenced on May 8, 2024, signifying a tangible step towards harnessing renewable energy sources to drive operational excellence and environmental stewardship. With a projected operational lifespan of 25 years, Siegwerk’s solar power park exemplifies the company’s long-term vision for renewable energy adoption and carbon reduction initiatives. By leveraging solar energy, Siegwerk not only reduces its carbon footprint but also sets a precedent for the industry, demonstrating the feasibility and benefits of renewable energy investments. This strategic investment underscores Siegwerk’s dedication to sustainable development and environmental responsibility, aligning with global efforts to mitigate climate change and transition towards a low-carbon economy. As the solar park in Jaisalmer continues to operate, it will serve as a beacon of innovation and environmental leadership, driving positive change and inspiring similar initiatives across industries.
