GMDA to Build ₹115 Cr Office on NH48

The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) is poised to commence the construction of a ₹115-crore, ten-storey office building in Sector 16, near the Signature Crossing along National Highway 48 (NH48). This project, approved in a meeting chaired by former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar last year, marks a significant development in GMDA’s infrastructure expansion.

A senior official from GMDA has confirmed that the tender for this ambitious project will be floated within the next 15 days. The new office building will be strategically located on a 2-acre plot at the water boosting station near the Signature Tower flyover. This modern structure is designed to consolidate all divisions of the authority under one roof, addressing the pressing need for more space due to the increasing staff and the expanding scope of projects undertaken by GMDA.

The new building will not only provide ample office space but also feature a three-storey basement parking facility to accommodate both officials and visitors. Additionally, it will house the command and control centre of the authority, further centralising GMDA’s operations and enhancing operational efficiency.

Currently, GMDA operates from a rented facility in Sector 44, which is leased from the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). This building hosts various departments including engineering, planning, finance and accounts, smart city initiatives, and mobility divisions. However, the rapid growth in the number of staff and the diversity of projects has necessitated a move to a larger, purpose-built facility.

The new office building is expected to significantly improve the working environment for GMDA employees and provide better facilities for visitors. The strategic location along NH48 will also enhance accessibility and visibility for the authority.

Officials have highlighted the urgency of this new infrastructure, citing the need for more space to efficiently accommodate the growing number of employees and the increasing volume of projects. The move is also aimed at improving the operational synergy of GMDA’s various departments, which are currently scattered across the rented premises in Sector 44.

The construction of this new office building underscores GMDA’s commitment to enhancing its operational capabilities and providing a conducive working environment for its staff. This development is poised to support the authority’s efforts in driving urban development and managing the metropolitan area more effectively.

As the project moves forward, GMDA’s focus will be on ensuring that the new facility meets all modern standards of design and functionality, reinforcing the authority’s role in the sustainable and efficient development of Gurugram.
