Amit Shah Unveils 30 Smart Schools in Ahmedabad

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday e-inaugurated 30 smart schools in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Developed by the Ahmedabad Municipal School Board at a cost of ₹36 crore, these schools are part of the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Shah, in his address, highlighted the distribution of these schools: nine in the Ghatlodiya assembly constituency, ten in Vejalpur, four in Naranpura, and seven in Sabarmati.

The inauguration of these 30 smart schools marks a significant milestone, directly benefiting over 10,000 children. Shah emphasised that the NEP will illuminate the lives of these students, spreading the lamp of knowledge and education. He also noted that out of a total of 69 schools in the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency, 59 have been transformed into smart schools, with the remaining institutions set to be upgraded soon.

Amit Shah highlighted the integration of skill development, vocational training, and digital empowerment into the curriculum of these smart schools. Additionally, he mentioned the inclusion of Mathematics practice, Science Laboratories, Future Classrooms, 3-D Educational Charts, 3-D Painting, and various elements of Indian Culture in the educational framework.

During the event, Shah remarked on his first visit to Gujarat post the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as both the Home Minister and the newly elected Member of Parliament for Gandhinagar. He noted that his initial programme during this visit was focused on the welfare of children from lower and poor strata of society. Expressing gratitude, Shah stated that he will always be indebted to the people of Gandhinagar for their support. He pledged his commitment to making Gandhinagar the most developed parliamentary constituency, ensuring progress and development in every sector over the next five years.

Reflecting on a decade-old initiative, Shah recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 2014 proposal at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to recognise 21st June as International Yoga Day. This proposal garnered support from approximately 170 countries, leading to the global celebration of Yoga over the past ten years. Shah noted that millions worldwide have embraced Yoga as part of their daily lives.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, marking a significant step forward in the state’s educational development under the NEP 202.
