Lucknow’s Gomti Riverfront Set for Adventure Tourism Boom

Lucknow is gearing up to redefine its tourism landscape with the development of the Gomti Riverfront into a thriving hub for adventure enthusiasts. Spearheaded by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the ambitious project aims to utilize 20,000 square metres of the riverfront, earmarking 6,000 square metres specifically for adventure tourism activities.

The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has initiated the transformation, focusing initially on revitalizing Entrance-7 near the Ghaus Mohammad Cricket Stadium to serve as a central point for adventure sports. The newly designated adventure zone will boast an impressive array of 22 activities catering to all tastes and preferences. Land-based adventures include adrenaline-pumping options such as land zorbing, bungee trampoline, all-terrain vehicle rides, go-karting, mechanical bull riding, paintball, rope courses, shooting, archery, and a giant wheel. For those seeking aerial thrills, offerings will include parasailing, ballooning, sky cycling, zip lining, flying fox, and a giant swing. Water enthusiasts can indulge in water zorbing, water rollers, paddle boats, speed boats, jet skiing, and aqua cycling.

Under the guidance of the Chief Minister, a comprehensive tourism development plan has been crafted to explore additional opportunities along the riverfront. Concurrently, the state government has launched efforts to clear debris from Akbarnagar Phase 1 and 2, aiming to eliminate illegal constructions in the vicinity. This initiative, managed by the LDA through e-tendering, is projected to cost approximately Rs. 40 lakh. The task involves deploying a range of specialized equipment and vehicles, including tar boilers, mixers, concrete mixers, water tankers, diesel road rollers, vibratory rollers, tractors, trucks, sensor paver-equipped hot mix plants, air compressors, mechanical brooms, bitumen distributors, mechanical sprayers, tippers, JCBs, and Poclain vehicles. The transformation of the Gomti Riverfront into an adventure tourism destination not only promises to attract thrill-seekers but also underscores Lucknow’s commitment to enhancing its tourism infrastructure. With a diverse offering of activities set against the scenic backdrop of the Gomti River, this initiative is poised to elevate Lucknow’s status as a premier destination for adventure tourism in India.
