Lucknow’s Weather Breakthrough Heavy Rainfall Predicted Post June 25

LUCKNOW: A welcomed change in weather patterns is on the horizon for Lucknow as heavy rainfall is forecasted to intensify starting Wednesday, offering respite from the scorching heatwave that has plagued the region for the past two months. Recent reports indicate that Lucknow experienced 7.1 mm of rainfall, providing a brief reprieve despite the maximum temperature soaring to 40.3 degrees Celsius, which is 2.9 degrees above normal. The minimum temperature also remained high at 31.2 degrees Celsius, marking a departure of 4.5 degrees from the usual.

Senior scientists at the Lucknow Meteorological Office have highlighted the underlying meteorological factors contributing to the forthcoming weather shift. “Prevailing moist easterly winds in the lower troposphere are interacting with a nearly stationary western disturbance in the mid-tropospheric levels around 70° east longitude. This interaction is currently resulting in light to moderate thundershowers across several parts of Uttar Pradesh,” explained one scientist.

Looking ahead, the forecast for Lucknow suggests a progression from partly cloudy to generally cloudy skies, with intermittent spells of rain and thundershowers. Temperatures are expected to range between a maximum of 38 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 30 degrees Celsius in the coming days.

The imminent arrival of the southwest monsoon in Uttar Pradesh, anticipated within the next few days, adds further optimism. “The monsoon is nearing the southern border of the state, particularly Sonbhadra, and favourable conditions are in place for its advancement across the region over the next 2-3 days,” added another senior scientist. Residents of Lucknow expressed relief as they noticed a significant shift in weather conditions. “The cool breeze that swept through the city post-afternoon has significantly improved the ambient weather conditions. This sudden change brings much-needed relief,” remarked a resident from Gomti Nagar.

As the city prepares for anticipated rainfall starting Wednesday, stakeholders and residents alike are hopeful that the upcoming weather patterns will mitigate the ongoing heatwave and contribute positively to the region’s water resources and agricultural prospects.
