YEIDA Plans Massive Land Acquisition Near Noida Airport

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has taken decisive steps towards acquiring an additional 1,861 hectares of land in Tappal village, Aligarh, bolstering plans for a multimodal logistics park and other key infrastructure projects near the upcoming Noida international airport.

Initially targeting 736 hectares, YEIDA’s expanded acquisition decision comes in response to rampant encroachments observed on lands adjacent to the airport site. Recent months have seen YEIDA conduct multiple demolition drives to clear illegal structures in Tappal and issue notices to approximately 300 encroachers in areas like Jewar and Jahangirpur, Noida, and Mathura.

The YEIDA board has now moved to formally take possession of the identified land in Tappal, with a proposal forwarded to the state government, expected to issue a notification imminently.

“The move to acquire this land is crucial as illegal constructions are proliferating around Tappal, a critical zone near the airport. Our intention is to integrate this land into our master plan, leaving no room for unauthorized developments,” affirmed a senior official.

Apart from the logistics park, YEIDA has earmarked the acquired land for various ancillary projects. The multimodal logistics park itself will unfold in phases, with an initial 200 hectares allocated for development. This phase includes provisions for commercial and institutional spaces alongside residential areas spanning 24 hectares.

Key features of the logistics park encompass essential support facilities such as truck parking zones, gated complexes, and platform and siding areas, ensuring comprehensive logistical capabilities.

YEIDA plans a substantial investment of Rs 990 crore for land acquisition and infrastructure development. The project will operate under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, with the private concessionaire responsible for both development and operation over a 45-year tenure.

Previously tendered under PPP protocols, the logistics park project is poised to significantly enhance regional economic prospects upon its completion. The strategic acquisition of additional land underscores YEIDA’s commitment to advancing infrastructural capabilities in tandem with the growth trajectory of Greater Noida and its surrounding regions.

This development aligns with YEIDA’s vision to establish Greater Noida as a pivotal hub for logistics and commercial activities, leveraging proximity to the upcoming Noida international airport to stimulate further economic vibrancy and development in the area.
