JMC-Greater Undertakes Strategic Inspections to Tackle Waterlogging

Jaipur: Municipal Corporation-Greater (JMC-Greater) has initiated a comprehensive inspection campaign aimed at addressing waterlogging issues across the city. With an average of 30-35 complaints flooding their online portal daily, officials have prioritized proactive measures to mitigate the impact of monsoon rains.

The inspection drive commenced with a focused assessment in the Mansarovar zone, supplemented by zone-wise visits to other trouble spots identified through resident complaints and sanitation reports. “Areas adjacent to open waste depots and stormwater drains have been particularly susceptible to waterlogging,” explained a senior official of JMC-Greater. “To ensure swift resolution, we have implemented a three-tier monitoring system. This involves immediate response mechanisms where engineers and sanitation staff collaborate to assess and resolve issues promptly upon receipt of complaints.” Ahead of the monsoon season, JMC-Greater undertook comprehensive cleaning of all 715 drains under its jurisdiction. Despite these efforts, ongoing challenges necessitate targeted interventions, including desilting critical points identified through ongoing monitoring and public feedback.

“We aim to clear waterlogging incidents within an hour of receiving complaints, underscoring our commitment to enhancing urban resilience against seasonal challenges,” the official added. Acknowledging the integral role of community engagement, JMC-Greater continues to encourage residents to report waterlogging incidents promptly through its digital platforms. This proactive approach not only facilitates quicker response times but also fosters a collaborative environment where civic issues are addressed with transparency and efficiency. Moving forward, JMC-Greater plans to intensify its efforts, leveraging technological advancements and public participation to optimize drainage infrastructure and mitigate the impact of adverse weather conditions. By bolstering these initiatives, Jaipur aims to set benchmarks in urban governance, ensuring sustainable development and enhanced quality of life for its residents
