MSRDC’s INR 2,600 Crore Nashik Outer Ring Road Project Gains Momentum
The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has unveiled plans for a sprawling 62-kilometre outer ring road, projected to cost INR 2,600 crore. This ambitious infrastructure initiative aims to streamline traffic flow by rerouting heavy vehicles away from the city centre, facilitating smoother transit during peak hours and significant events like the upcoming 2027 Kumbh Mela.
During a recent review meeting chaired by the Public Works Department (PWD) minister, who oversees MSRDC, officials outlined the comprehensive blueprint for the outer ring road. The project necessitates the acquisition of approximately 400 hectares of land, crucial for its seamless integration across Nashik’s expanding urban landscape. The proposed outer ring road will span two primary stretches a 26-kilometre segment from Pathardi to Adgaon, passing through key locales such as Pimpalgaon Khamb, Vadner, Vihitgaon, Deolali, and Panchak; and a 36-kilometre stretch from Adgaon to Garware Point in Ambad, encompassing Mhasrul, Makhmalabad, Gangapur, Satpur, Pimpalgaon Bahula border, and Chunchale. This strategic alignment aims to enhance connectivity with Nashik’s outskirts, supporting the city’s burgeoning growth and urban development needs.
“The outer ring road is poised to play a pivotal role in decongesting Nashik’s arterial routes, particularly as the city continues to expand,” remarked an MSRDC official during the meeting. Emphasising the project’s urgency, discussions also highlighted its role in bolstering regional connectivity and accommodating future traffic demands. With the 2027 Kumbh Mela looming as a significant milestone, timely completion of the outer ring road remains a priority. MSRDC officials have been instructed to collaborate closely with Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) to expedite project planning and ensure adherence to stipulated timelines.
