Delhi HC Notifies Firm on Yuvraj Singh's Arbitration Request
The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to real estate firm Brilliant Etoile Private Limited in response to two petitions filed by former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh. Singh is seeking the appointment of an arbitrator to resolve disputes regarding the alleged violation of his privacy rights in the promotion of construction projects and the delayed delivery of a residential unit in New Delhi. Justice C Hari Shankar has requested the firm’s response to Singh’s petitions, scheduling further hearings for August 5.
Yuvraj Singh, represented by advocate Rizwan, has raised two significant grievances against the builder. The first pertains to a sale agreement executed between Singh, his mother, and Brilliant Etoile Pvt Ltd for the purchase of an apartment in the ‘Sky Mansion’ project, valued at over Rs14 crore. The second grievance involves a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Singh and the builder for the promotion, endorsement, and marketing of the real estate project. Singh alleges that Brilliant Etoile Pvt Ltd breached the terms of both the MoU and the sale agreement. Upon inspecting the apartment after receiving the possession letter, Singh was reportedly shocked to find that the unit did not meet the promised standards of quality, grade, specifications, and finishing. The builder is accused of compromising on the quality of materials and downgrading the fittings, furnishings, lighting.
