Navi Mumbai Airport on Track for March 2025 Debut, Targets International Standards

Navi Mumbai International Airport is on course to commence operations by March 2025, according to Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol. During a recent visit to the airport site with Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, Mohol expressed confidence in the project’s progress.

“Based on the current pace of construction, the airport is scheduled to be operational by March next year,” Mohol affirmed. He underscored that the new airport will significantly improve connectivity not only within Maharashtra but also with neighbouring regions including Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Kalyan, and western Maharashtra. Mohol noted its adherence to international standards and projected an annual footfall of nearly 20 million passengers. He also conveyed optimism about naming the airport after the late PWP leader, pending formalities.

Addressing concerns over compensation for project-affected persons (PAP), Mohol assured that ongoing discussions with the management would resolve these issues satisfactorily. The Navi Mumbai International Airport project, long anticipated to alleviate congestion at Mumbai’s existing airport and boost regional economic growth, has been progressing steadily. Once operational, it is poised to serve as a vital gateway, offering modern facilities and streamlined connectivity for domestic and international travellers. This development aligns with broader efforts to enhance India’s aviation infrastructure, catering to the increasing demands of air travel and fostering economic development across the region.
