Road Infrastructure Crisis Grips White Rose Layout, Bengaluru

Residents of White Rose Layout, situated near Hope Farm Junction in Bengaluru’s Whitefield area, are grappling with severe infrastructure challenges, primarily due to inadequate road conditions that worsen during different seasons.

Approximately 50 families residing in this locality have voiced their concerns over the lack of asphalted roads, which become excessively dusty in summer and dangerously slushy during the monsoon season. Despite being A Khata properties and regular property tax payers to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), residents lament that their repeated complaints have fallen on deaf ears. The substandard road conditions not only inconvenience daily commuters but also pose safety risks, as highlighted by recent incidents of accidents due to slippery road surfaces.

Residents have also cited concerns over greywater overflow from septic pits, which has exacerbated health hazards and cleanliness issues in the locality. This problem underscores broader infrastructural inadequacies, including the delay in laying essential water and sanitary pipelines by the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB). In response to these grievances, a spokesperson from the residential community in White Rose Layout emphasized the urgent need for BBMP and BWSSB authorities to prioritize infrastructure development. They stressed that the current road conditions have deteriorated significantly over the years, adversely impacting the quality of life for residents.

Residents pointed out the lack of any significant developmental initiatives in the area despite promises, noting that basic amenities like proper roads and sewage systems are yet to be provided. They expressed frustration over the delayed implementation of BWSSB’s plans to lay water and sanitary pipelines, which has further compounded the challenges faced by the community. Addressing these concerns, an engineer from BWSSB acknowledged the delays in infrastructure projects, attributing them to administrative processes affected by the model code of conduct during recent elections. Assuring swift action, the engineer indicated that tender processes for laying pipelines will soon commence, aiming to mitigate the longstanding issues faced by residents.
