NH152: Major Upgrades and Safety Enhancements by Next Year
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced an ambitious project to access control a 42-kilometre stretch of National Highway 152, spanning from Ismailabad in Kurukshetra to Ambala. This initiative, set to be completed by December next year, aims to significantly enhance the safety and efficiency of this crucial segment of the Kotputli-Ambala economic corridor.
The project involves the construction of 15 new structures, including 14 vehicular underpasses (VUPs), a flyover, and service roads, with an estimated budget of nearly Rs300 crore. This stretch, part of the Trans-Haryana highway, is already access-controlled from Narnaul to Ismailabad. The new development will extend this control to Ambala, thereby improving connectivity and safety. The vehicular underpasses will be strategically located at 14 sites, including Gangheri village, Ajrawar, Jansui-Kaleran, Loh Simbly-Jameetgarh, Ghel, Jalbera village, Matheri Shekhan, Sullar-Balana, Naraingarh-Balana, Loh Simbly, Darwa-Kolumajra, and two locations in Thol village. Additionally, a flyover will be constructed near Balana village in Ambala, further facilitating smooth traffic flow.
An NHAI official highlighted the safety benefits of this project, noting that the elimination of median cuts on the highway will reduce safety hazards. The introduction of service lanes will also provide local residents with safer and more convenient commuting options. As of now, approximately 15% of the work has been completed, with the project on track for its December 2024 deadline. The project underscores NHAI’s commitment to improving national highway infrastructure through strategic investments and rigorous safety standards. The anticipated completion of this project will not only enhance the safety and efficiency of NH152 but also contribute to the overall development of the region.
