Gachibowli Flyover Closes for Night Repairs

Commuters in the bustling Gachibowli area of Hyderabad should brace themselves for significant traffic disruptions over the next few days as essential repair work is undertaken on the SRDP Shilpa Layout Phase-II flyover. According to a recent advisory issued by the Cyberabad Traffic Police, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will close the Gachibowli flyover for seven hours each night from August 8 to August 12, to facilitate construction work.

The flyover, a critical artery for traffic in the area, will be closed daily from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., significantly impacting the flow of vehicles during these hours. This repair work is part of the GHMC’s ongoing infrastructure maintenance programme, aimed at enhancing road safety and ensuring the longevity of the city’s flyovers. The decision to conduct these repairs during night-time hours is intended to minimise inconvenience to the public, though traffic disruptions are still expected. To mitigate the impact on commuters, the traffic police have recommended two alternative routes. For those travelling from Bio-Diversity Junction to IIIT Junction, a detour has been suggested via Telecom Nagar, allowing commuters to bypass the closed flyover and continue their journey through Gachibowli Junction before reaching IIIT Junction. Similarly, commuters travelling from IIIT Junction to Bio-Diversity Junction are advised to avoid the flyover by taking the route beside it via Gachibowli Junction.

The Cyberabad Traffic Police have urged motorists to plan their journeys in advance and consider these alternative routes to avoid delays. Additionally, the public is advised to stay updated on traffic conditions through local news channels and social media platforms. The Gachibowli flyover is a vital infrastructure component in Hyderabad’s road network, connecting key areas such as the Financial District, Hi-Tech City, and the Outer Ring Road.
