New IT Parks to Boost Bengaluru’s Tech Sector

Bengaluru, renowned as Silicon City and a hub for IT and BT industries, is poised for a significant expansion with the upcoming development of 89 new IT parks. This ambitious initiative, spearheaded by the Bengaluru Metropolitan Region Development Authority (BMRDA), will see the establishment of these state-of-the-art facilities across key zones including Yeshwanthpur, Whitefield, and several other critical areas such as North Zone, Mahadevapura, and Bommanahalli. Scheduled for completion within the next two to three years, this development is set to bolster Bengaluru’s position as the country’s premier software exporter and semiconductor hub.

The new IT parks will be strategically located, with over ten tech companies setting up in Yeshwanthpur and Whitefield. Additional clusters of new IT ventures are planned for Bellandur, Tumkur Road, Koramangala, and Kundalahalli, reflecting a broad-based expansion across the city. This surge in IT infrastructure is anticipated to generate substantial employment opportunities, further enhancing Bengaluru’s reputation as a magnet for tech talent and investment.

In conjunction with these developments, the BMRDA is reviving a two-decade-old plan to create self-sufficient towns in suburban areas such as Bidadi, Solur near Magadi, and Nandagudi in Hosakote. As part of the preparatory work, the Bangalore Metropolitan Area Development Authority has requested Namma Metro to explore connectivity options for these new areas. Bidadi is set to be the first town developed, with plans underway for constructing a comprehensive township including commercial, residential, and logistical facilities. Infrastructure upgrades, including separate water supply systems and connectivity enhancements, are also being coordinated to ensure the successful integration of these new developments into Bengaluru’s growing urban landscape.
