Ahmedabad’s Rainfall Cools Down City Temperature

Ahmedabad experienced a sudden spell of rain on Tuesday, with the city recording a total of 4mm of precipitation, primarily during the afternoon hours. This unexpected downpour caught many residents off guard, particularly in the western parts of the city, leading to a rush for shelter from the light showers. The rainfall has had a notable impact on the weather, causing the maximum temperature to drop from 34°C on Monday to a cooler 32°C.

The broader Gujarat region also saw varied rainfall, with reports indicating both light and heavy showers across multiple districts. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a continuation of light to moderate rainfall for Ahmedabad and its surroundings on Wednesday. This shift in weather conditions is attributed to the presence of a monsoon trough, an offshore trough, and a cyclonic circulation over south Gujarat.

In terms of regional impact, several districts have reported significant rainfall. Umarpada and Surat emerged as the top recipients with 255mm of rain recorded by 8 pm, followed by Sagbara in Narmada with 77mm and Khergam in Navsari with 70mm. The IMD has also forecasted heavy rainfall in various districts, including Aravalli, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, and Valsad. Meanwhile, other parts of the state are expected to experience light to moderate thunderstorms. Looking ahead, the intensity of rainfall is anticipated to decrease from Thursday onwards. This shift in weather dynamics is expected to offer some respite to the regions that have been significantly affected by the recent downpours. The current weather patterns underscore the complex interplay of atmospheric conditions influencing Gujarat’s monsoon season.
