Mira-Bhayandar Roads Pose Risk Due to Uneven Ramps
The newly constructed cement concrete roads in the Beverly Park area of Mira Road, Mira-Bhayandar, have raised serious safety concerns for motorists and bikers. Instead of ensuring level surfaces, the contractor responsible for the project has taken a problematic approach by creating uneven ramps using a crude method of pouring concrete mix to bridge the significant gaps between the new road surfaces and the existing, tattered lower steps.
This has resulted in a bumpy and hazardous ride that poses a serious risk to all road users. Photographs from the site reveal the uneven slopes and wide cracks that have emerged due to the improper construction technique. The uneven ramps, far from offering a smooth transition between levels, act more like makeshift ramps that create a roller coaster effect, particularly dangerous for bikers and motorists who now face the risk of sudden jolts and potential accidents while navigating these roads. Local residents have voiced their concerns, pointing out the poor quality of construction and lack of oversight.
“This is a clear case of negligence,” said a local resident. “The ramps are not only uneven but also poorly constructed, posing a real danger to everyone who uses this road daily.” Complaints about the substandard construction have been escalating, with many calling for immediate corrective measures to prevent potential accidents and injuries. The new concrete roads in the Beverly Park area were expected to provide a much-needed upgrade to the existing infrastructure, but the execution has left much to be desired. The contractor’s choice to hastily bridge gaps with uneven concrete slopes has only compounded the problem, creating more hazards than improvements.
Residents are demanding that the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) take swift action to rectify the situation before any serious accidents occur. Local authorities are reportedly aware of the issues and have promised to look into the matter. However, the pace of response remains a concern for residents, who fear that any delay could result in unfortunate incidents. They urge the MBMC to enforce quality standards more strictly and ensure that future road works are executed with the safety and convenience of the public in mind. This development is yet another example of infrastructure projects falling short of public expectations due to poor planning and execution.
