Mitsubishi Electric Rules Patent Filings in Heat Recycling HVAC Systems

According to a recent analysis, Mitsubishi Electric has emerged as the leading patent filer in the field of heat recycling HVAC systems. The company’s extensive patent portfolio encompasses various aspects of heating, cooling, ventilation, air-conditioning devices, control programmes, and cleaning methods. These patents focus on optimising waste heat recovery, improving the refrigerant cycle, reducing noise levels, and enhancing overall power efficiency.

With a track record spanning several decades, Mitsubishi Electric has supplied over 150,000 rail HVAC units of different types and capacities since the 1950s. A notable innovation by the company is the Melco Green HVAC system, which incorporates the Lossnay heat recovery ventilation system. This patented balanced pressure solution facilitates the introduction of fresh, filtered air while efficiently recovering heat energy from outgoing stale air. The Melco Green HVAC system significantly enhances energy efficiency and promotes eco-friendly practices.

Alstom, Siemens and Bombardier are joining Mitsubishi Electric as prominent innovators in the heat recycling HVAC systems sector. These companies have significantly contributed to developing and applying sustainable HVAC solutions within the railway industry. When examining the diversity of applications within this domain, the CRRC Group emerges as the frontrunner, followed by Mobile Comfort and Siemens. The CRRC Group’s commitment to exploring various applications of heat recycling HVAC systems has positioned them as industry leaders. In terms of geographic reach, the CRRC Group continues to lead, closely followed by Trane Technologies and Liebherr-International.

The advancement of heat recycling HVAC systems reflects the railway industry’s ongoing pursuit of environment-friendly technologies. By maximising waste heat recovery and optimising energy consumption, these systems contribute to train operations’ overall sustainability and efficiency. The prominent role played by companies such as Mitsubishi Electric, Alstom, Siemens and Bombardier demonstrates their commitment to driving innovation and fostering greener practices in the railway sector.
