A New Era of Connectivity Between Uttar Pradesh and Haryana

A transformative infrastructure initiative is underway with the introduction of a new 32 km expressway connecting Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh to Palwal in Haryana. This ambitious project is expected to significantly enhance travel efficiency between Aligarh and the National Capital Region (NCR), a region often plagued by traffic congestion and lengthy commutes.

The government has initiated the tendering process for this expressway, which is designed to offer a faster and more direct route for commuters. By linking the expressway to the Yamuna Expressway at Tappal and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway at Palwal, travelers will benefit from streamlined access to major urban centres such as Agra, Mathura, Delhi, Greater Noida, Noida, Palwal, and Gurugram. This expressway is a crucial component of the Master Plan 2031 established by the Aligarh Development Authority. It is projected to significantly reduce travel times; the journey from Sarsaul to the Yamuna Expressway is expected to take merely one hour. With an estimated construction cost of Rs 2,300 crore, the expressway will feature a four-lane configuration, reflecting the government’s commitment to enhancing regional connectivity and supporting economic growth.

To facilitate the construction of this vital infrastructure, land acquisition will take place across 43 villages in Aligarh, including key areas such as Andla, Arrana, and Jarara. GPS markings for land acquisition have already commenced, underscoring the project’s substantial impact on local communities and the surrounding environment. Vice Chairman of the Aligarh Development Authority, underscored the project’s significance, stating, “This is the most important plan in the Master Plan 2031. It will accelerate development in the region and improve connectivity.” The expressway is anticipated to bolster developments in critical sectors, including the Defence Corridor, Transport Nagar, and the newly established Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh University. It will also enhance infrastructure in Greater Aligarh and expedite upgrades to the Aligarh-Khair road. For residents and commuters in Noida and Gurugram, the expressway promises to alleviate congestion in areas such as Khair and Jattari, leading to a more efficient and pleasant travel experience. This project represents a significant leap forward in regional infrastructure, poised to enhance connectivity and accessibility between Aligarh and the NCR.

Moreover, the greenfield expressway from Aligarh to Palwal is projected to stimulate economic growth and improve the overall quality of life for many in the region. By facilitating smoother transportation, the expressway is set to transform not only how people travel but also how businesses operate, laying the groundwork for future developments and opportunities.
