The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has issued a heartfelt plea for citizens to embrace public transport as a means to reduce road congestion and combat air pollution in the national capital. This timely initiative comes in light of the anticipated surge in travel during the festivities and the expected implementation of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) aimed at curbing pollution levels.
The DMRC has announced that it will enhance its services by running additional train trips to meet the expected increased demand. During GRAP Stage-II, which is triggered by escalating pollution levels, the Metro will introduce 40 extra trips on weekdays across all lines. Furthermore, should GRAP Stage-III or higher be enforced, an additional 20 trips will be added, bringing the total to 60 extra trips on weekdays. This initiative aims to facilitate longer journeys for commuters while minimising their exposure to harmful pollutants.

The DMRC’s appeal is crucial in addressing increased vehicular emissions during this festive period.
