New Coastal Road to Ease BKC Congestion

Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), a bustling business hub, is set to receive a much-needed traffic relief with the imminent opening of the BKC coastal road. The new signal-free bypass, running along the Mithi river, promises to significantly reduce congestion within the area. The 2.2-kilometer stretch, constructed at a cost of INR 4 crore, connects the R2 MMRDA ground near the BKC connector bridge to the MTNL junction.

The road’s concretization is in the final stages, and the curing process is expected to be completed in time for its November launch. The opening of the coastal road is expected to alleviate the traffic congestion that has plagued BKC in recent years. Commuters currently face significant delays, spending an average of 30 minutes to traverse the 4-kilometer stretch within the complex during peak hours.
