Maharashtra Introduces Online Booking for VIP Numbers

The Maharashtra Transport Department has launched an online facility, which began on November 25, 2024. This initiative, titled “The Integrated Solution for Booking of Registration Mark of Choice,” allows citizens to conveniently book their preferred registration numbers by paying the requisite fees online.

The online service, which is entirely digital, simplifies the process by requiring applicants to link their Aadhaar with their mobile number. Once this is done, they can authenticate their identity using an Aadhaar OTP or a mobile OTP, making the entire procedure seamless and faceless. After verification, users can reserve their desired vehicle registration number through the official website: https://fancy.parivahan.gov.in. While the online service is set to streamline booking, the offline auction system will still be in place for situations where a new series of registration numbers is launched. When such a new series is introduced, citizens can apply for their chosen fancy or VIP numbers. If multiple applicants request the same number, an auction will be held, with the highest bidder securing the registration. The bidder must make the payment at the designated office cashier, where they will be issued a receipt for the chosen number.

Once the offline auction process is completed, any unreserved registration numbers will then be made available for online booking. This hybrid approach ensures that both the auction and the online reservation methods are efficiently integrated, offering convenience to the public while maintaining fairness in the allocation of premium registration numbers. The introduction of this online system is part of the state’s broader efforts to enhance transparency, reduce delays, and improve the overall experience for citizens seeking VIP or fancy vehicle registration numbers. The new digital facility promises to make vehicle registration a more accessible and hassle-free process for the people of Maharashtra.
