Tata Motors Takes Major Step in Sustainable Vehicle Recycling with Pune Facility

Tata Motors, India’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, has made a significant contribution to sustainability with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art vehicle scrapping facility in Pune. This facility, a collaboration with Tata International under the brand Re.Wi.Re – Recycle with Respect, is poised to play a crucial role in India’s vehicle recycling ecosystem. With the ability to safely dismantle up to 21,000 end-of-life vehicles annually, it sets new standards for environmentally conscious vehicle disposal practices, aligning with the nation’s evolving sustainability goals.

The new Pune-based facility is part of the wider Re.Wi.Re network, which already includes centres in cities such as Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Surat, Chandigarh, and Delhi NCR. Girish Wagh, Executive Director at Tata Motors, highlighted the initiative’s focus on fostering a circular economy by maximizing the value extracted from end-of-life vehicles. This approach is not only economically beneficial but also aligns with global and national sustainability objectives, driving the move toward a more eco-friendly future.
