Partly Cloudy Skies and Mild Temperatures Forecasted for Mumbai

Mumbai, December 8, 2024 – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather update for Mumbai, predicting partly cloudy skies for today. With temperatures expected to range between a minimum of 21.99°C and a maximum of 31°C, the city is poised for a relatively mild day. Humidity levels will remain low, around 30%, while a steady North wind at 16 km/h is expected to add a slight breeze to the otherwise warm day.

As residents head outdoors, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Mumbai stands at 183, which indicates a moderate air quality. Although it is considered acceptable for most people, individuals with pre-existing respiratory conditions—such as asthma or bronchitis—are advised to limit prolonged exposure to outdoor environments. Sensitive groups, including children, may experience health issues if exposed for extended periods. The rising temperatures today are largely attributed to the residual effects of Cyclone Fengal, which has been making its presence felt along India’s southeastern coast. This cyclone, which has triggered significant rainfall in parts of the south and east, is indirectly influencing weather patterns in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, leading to higher-than-average temperatures.

Looking ahead to December 9, 2024, Mumbai is expected to witness similar weather conditions, with partly cloudy skies and temperatures holding steady between 21°C and 31°C. The humidity is likely to remain around 30%, and the AQI may continue to fluctuate in the moderate category, urging caution for those susceptible to air pollution. With the combination of moderate air quality, mild temperatures, and persistent cloud cover, Mumbai’s residents are encouraged to plan their day with an awareness of both weather and environmental conditions. As we head into the busy season, it is essential to be mindful of health precautions, particularly concerning air quality and its potential impact on vulnerable groups.
