Devanahalli Toll Plaza Near Bengaluru Airport Sets Record with Rs 308 Crore Revenue in FY24

Devanahalli toll plaza, located near Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru, has achieved a remarkable Rs 308 crore in revenue for the financial year 2023-24, setting a new record. This was disclosed in a report to the Rajya Sabha, highlighting toll collections on national highways across India. The plaza has emerged as the highest revenue-generating toll in Karnataka, surpassing its previous record of Rs 187 crore in FY 2018-19.

The impressive revenue can be attributed to the toll plaza’s strategic location on NH 44, the main highway connecting Bengaluru to Kempegowda International Airport, India’s third-busiest airport. With millions of passengers traveling to and from KIA each year, the toll plaza experiences heavy traffic. In FY24, KIA saw 37.53 million passengers and 439,524 metric tonnes (MT) of cargo, marking substantial growth in both passenger and freight traffic. NH 44 is also a vital commercial route linking Karnataka with neighboring Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, further contributing to high toll collections due to consistent freight and passenger movement. Additionally, toll plazas along the Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway, such as Kaniminike and Sheshagirihalli, recorded significant increases in toll revenue, reflecting the enhanced connectivity and reduced travel time between the two cities.
