Patna to Get Double-Decker Road and Metro by 2025, Enhancing City Infrastructure

Patna is on track to witness major infrastructure upgrades with the planned completion of a double-decker elevated corridor and metro rail services by 2025, announced Patna District Magistrate (DM) Chandrashekhar Singh. The 2.2 km two-lane double-decker elevated corridor, stretching from Kargil Chowk to Patna Science College, is progressing well, with 93% of the foundation work, 83% of the substructure, and 53% of the superstructure already completed. The project is expected to be fully operational by February 2025, significantly improving traffic flow in the city.

The construction of the Patna Metro, a key component of the city’s transportation overhaul, is also advancing. Six underground metro stations—Akashwani, Gandhi Maidan, PMCH, Patna University, Moinul Haque, and Rajendra Nagar—are being built, and work is progressing according to schedule. The DM assured residents that they would be able to enjoy the new metro services by 2025. The project is set to ease congestion, provide faster commuting options, and modernize the city’s public transportation system.

However, the project has not been without its challenges. The construction of the double-decker road has caused temporary disruptions for local businesses, particularly around the service road near Patna Science College. The owners of 51 affected shops have been notified to relocate by Saturday, with equal-sized shops being built for their accommodation. Furthermore, officials are addressing issues related to ongoing metro work that is obstructing the development of service roads. Despite these hurdles, the DM emphasized that the completion of both the elevated corridor and metro rail by 2025 will be a milestone for Patna, improving the city’s infrastructure and quality of life for residents.
