Uttar Pradesh Announces Rs 17,865 Crore Supplementary Budget for Power and Infrastructure

Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has presented its second supplementary budget for the fiscal year, totaling Rs 17,865.72 crore. This budget focuses heavily on the state’s power sector and infrastructure development, with fresh proposals of Rs 790 crore for emerging departmental needs. It follows the original budget of Rs 7.36 lakh crore presented earlier this year and the first supplementary budget of Rs 12,209 crore tabled in July.

The supplementary budget allocates significant funds across key sectors. The largest share, Rs 8,587 crore, has been earmarked for the energy department to enhance the state’s power infrastructure. Other notable allocations include Rs 2,438 crore for fiscal management, Rs 1,592 crore for family welfare programs, Rs 1,001 crore for animal husbandry, Rs 805 crore for public works, and Rs 515 crore for primary education. Additionally, Rs 505 crore is set aside for the information department, while rural governance initiatives under Panchayati Raj will receive Rs 454 crore. The supplementary budget was approved unanimously in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and includes Rs 422.56 crore in central scheme funding and Rs 30.48 crore reimbursement from the contingency fund. This budget underscores the government’s commitment to modernizing Uttar Pradesh’s infrastructure, advancing welfare systems, and improving the power sector, positioning the state for sustainable growth.
