Mumbai Passenger Reservation System Offline for Maintenance

In a crucial maintenance operation, the Mumbai Passenger Reservation System (PRS) will be temporarily shut down during the intervening night of 31st December 2024 and 1st January 2025 for the renumbering of train numbers. This essential update will affect several critical services, as users will be unable to access PRS, refund counters, charting activities, or make bookings through various platforms.

From 23:45 hrs on 31st December 2024 until 01:15 hrs on 1st January 2025, passengers will face disruptions in services such as Coaching Refund, Current Reservation, Touch Screen kiosks, IVRS (Interactive Voice Response System), and Chart Display. Additionally, internet booking for Mumbai PRS trains will be unavailable during this period. Train operations, including the firing of trains and the processing of refunds, will also be impacted. However, passengers who require refunds will still be able to file Ticket Deposit Receipts (TDR) according to existing refund rules.

The shutdown is necessary to facilitate the renumbering process, which is aimed at enhancing the operational efficiency of the system. As the Railway Administration undertakes this task, passengers are kindly requested to bear with the inconvenience caused and plan their travel accordingly. While the disruption is expected to be brief, it is important for users to prepare for the unavailability of PRS and related services during the specified window. The Railway authorities have assured the public that the maintenance work is a critical part of improving services in the long run. While there will be a temporary pause in services on New Year’s Eve, passengers are encouraged to plan ahead and use alternative arrangements where necessary. The Mumbai Railway Administration appreciates the cooperation of all rail users during this time.
