Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister KT Rama Rao inaugurated the ‘Lake Development Programme’ to rejuvenate and take up comprehensive development of as many as 50 lakes or Cheruvus in Hyderabad.
As many as 25 lakes in GHMC (the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) limits, and another 20 in HMDA (the Hyderabad Metropolitan Develo0pment Authority) jurisdiction have been handed over to private builders under Lakes Development Programme with CSR funds. MoU certificates for the 50 lakes were given to real estate development companies which have adopted lakes for development.
Walking tracks, landscaping, open gyms, benches, toilets, illumination, play areas for children, gazebos and amphitheatres would come up at these lakes.
