Following a recent inspection of the Aurobindo Setu and Sealdah flyover, KMDA has assessed that the transformer lines and some settlements below Aurobindo Setu need to be shifted for the authorities to take up major repair work, including replacing its bearings.
Similarly, some of the pillars of the Sealdah flyover need to be strengthened, for which the existing underground utilities and a group of hawkers doing business below the flyover need to be shifted. KMDA is working with KMC, CESC and the agencies engaged in conducting health studies of the bridges to develop solutions to take up repair work.
