NAREDCO, IFC EDGE Unite for Green Buildings by 2025

In a decisive step towards sustainable real estate, NAREDCO Maharashtra has partnered with the International Finance Corporation’s (IFC) EDGE program to drive eco-friendly construction practices across the state. Facilitated by NAREDCO Maharashtra NextGen, this collaboration aims to make Maharashtra a leader in green building initiatives by 2025, unlocking global financing and fostering environmentally responsible development.

A formal Letter of Collaboration was signed by IFC representatives Diep Nguyen van-Houtte and Autif Sayyed, alongside Ridham Gada, President of NAREDCO Maharashtra NextGen. Under this agreement, IFC EDGE will provide its technical expertise, conduct training programs, and hold knowledge sessions on global green building standards. Additionally, developers achieving EDGE certification will benefit from industry recognition and networking opportunities at key regional events. With sustainability taking centre stage in the real estate sector, this partnership will support technical training and certification for developers, equipping them with the knowledge to implement EDGE standards for energy and resource efficiency. NAREDCO Maharashtra will also work towards integrating these guidelines into state-level policies and advocating for sustainability incentives that encourage greener construction.

Beyond policy integration, the initiative will offer industry recognition to EDGE-certified projects, ensuring they gain visibility at major real estate forums and attract investors committed to sustainable development. This collaboration aligns with Maharashtra’s broader ambition of fostering low-carbon, smart cities that adhere to India’s climate commitments. Prashant Sharma, President of NAREDCO Maharashtra, hailed the collaboration as a transformative step for the state’s real estate landscape. “With IFC’s expertise, we are poised to create intelligent, eco-friendly urban spaces that redefine the way we build,” he said. Adding to this vision, Ridham Gada underscored the role of the next generation in driving sustainability. “This initiative will influence not just how we construct today, but how we shape a more resilient tomorrow,” he remarked. As Maharashtra accelerates its green transition, this collaboration between NAREDCO Maharashtra and IFC EDGE is set to play a pivotal role in reshaping the future of real estate with smarter, more sustainable building practices.
