The rakes will be operational under Phase 1 of the under-construction Metro 9 (Dahisar-Mira Road-Bhayander) project, including Dahisar East, Pandurang Wadi, Amar Palace and Kashigaon Zankar stations – will be maintained at the Charkop depot, said MMRDA Commissioner S V R Srinivas.
Currently, the Charkop depot maintains rakes of Metro 2A (Dahisar-DN Ngaar) and 7 (Dahisar East-Andheri East). The depot for Metro 9 is set to come up at Uttan.
On the Charkop depot already saturated, an official from MMRDA said, “The Charkop depot has a facility to park 22 rakes. Though it is already full, at Metro 7’s last station, Dahisar, a 1-km track can be constructed were some rakes of the upcoming Metro 9 can be parked. A few can also be parked at siding track at some stations on Metro 9.”
