The Perandoor Canal cleaning project, intended to improve sanitation and drainage, was also flagged for incomplete execution, with heavy equipment lying idle at Madhava Pharmacy Junction. Similar concerns have been raised in other Indian cities, such as Bengaluru and Chennai, where uncovered drains and uneven footpaths have led to tragic accidents, prompting legal scrutiny. The Kochi civic administration, however, continues to lag in implementing sustainable and long-term solutions, relying instead on reactionary measures when court directives force action.
