Delhi and Jaipur will soon enjoy a significantly faster and smoother journey.
Starting June, a new high-speed expressway link from Bandikui to the Jaipur Ring Road is set to cut down travel time to just two and a half hours, slashing nearly 20 kilometres off the existing route. This project marks a pivotal upgrade in India’s infrastructure push, aiming to ease intercity travel and reduce the strain on existing national highways. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has confirmed that the 67-kilometre controlled-access corridor will bypass the bottlenecks currently faced on NH-21. At present, commuters from Delhi, Gurgaon and Faridabad are required to exit the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway at Dausa and then use the older four-lane NH-21, often facing delays due to traffic and restricted speeds. The new stretch from Bandikui provides a direct, high-speed, non-stop alternative that promises to significantly ease congestion and enhance commuter comfort.
This development is part of a broader vision to optimise India’s transport networks with eco-sensitive, time-efficient, and sustainable infrastructure. By enabling a more direct and fuel-efficient route, the project is expected to contribute to lower vehicular emissions—a key objective under India’s net-zero carbon targets. With smoother, faster journeys, the route will also support better economic integration between Delhi and Jaipur, which are major hubs for business, tourism, and logistics. Adding to the convenience, by December, the first nine kilometres of the DND Flyway–KMP (Kundli-Manesar-Palwal) interchange will open, allowing residents of Noida, Ghaziabad, and East Delhi to access the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway seamlessly. This connection will bring Jaipur within just 2.5 hours of East Delhi too, significantly enhancing the travel experience for thousands of daily commuters and leisure travellers.
While construction is nearly complete, one key segment—a rail overbridge on the Delhi-Ahmedabad railway line—is pending final touches. NHAI officials are confident this will be ready by the end of May. If required, a temporary detour may be provided to maintain uninterrupted traffic flow until full completion. NHAI Chairman Santosh Yadav has emphasised the need for meticulous quality checks before the route is opened to the public. He has directed officials to conduct test runs and ensure that the highway opens without infrastructural glitches, reflecting a broader government commitment to delivering world-class infrastructure that prioritises public safety and satisfaction.
This expressway link is not merely a piece of infrastructure—it’s a symbol of India’s fast-paced transition towards sustainable and inclusive urban mobility.
