Indian Analysts to Create EVs with No Need for Grid Link

Indian researchers at the Odisha University of Technology and Research are
pushing the boundaries of solar panel innovation, integrating artificial intelligence
(AI) and kinetic energy capture to potentially revolutionize electric vehicle (EV)
charging. Their visionary research aims to create EVs that can charge without the
need for a grid connection.

At its core, the technology utilises solar panels to harness energy from the sun.
While solar panels on vehicles are not new, Odisha’s approach incorporates AI
algorithms to optimise efficiency further.

This AI-driven system calculates factors like temperature and sunlight to determine
the ideal power generation levels for solar cells, ensuring that energy is generated
and stored efficiently in the vehicle’s battery. The AI makes real-time decisions
based on a vast dataset of temperature and light readings, making the system
adaptable to varying conditions.

What sets this innovation apart is its inclusion of kinetic energy capture. When the
vehicle’s brakes are applied, the system captures and converts the kinetic energy
generated during braking into electrical energy, further enhancing the vehicle’s
self-sufficiency.

While solar panels on EVs have been explored previously, Odisha’s integration of
AI and kinetic energy capture introduces a new level of efficiency. The AI-driven
system achieves an impressive 88 percent efficiency for direct-current motor,
surpassing standard DC motors by at least 8 percent.
