Mumbai Gandhinagar Vande Bharat Express Adds 3 AC Coaches

Western Railway has announced the permanent addition of three AC Chair Car coaches to the Mumbai-Gandhinagar Vande Bharat Express.

Effective from Sunday, this enhancement aims to bolster passenger capacity by over 85,000 seats annually, reflecting the train’s escalating popularity among commuters. Launched in September 2022, the Mumbai-Gandhinagar Vande Bharat Express has swiftly become a preferred choice for passengers traversing the 520 km route between Mumbai Central and Gandhinagar Capital. With halts at Borivali, Vapi, Surat, Vadodara Junction, Anand Junction, Ahmedabad Junction, and Gandhinagar Capital, the train offers a seamless and efficient travel experience, covering the distance in approximately 6 hours and 25 minutes .

The addition of three AC Chair Car coaches is a strategic response to the train’s consistent occupancy rates exceeding 130%, as reported by Western Railway. This move not only addresses the immediate need for additional seating but also underscores the commitment to providing enhanced travel options for passengers seeking comfort and convenience. The Vande Bharat Express is renowned for its state-of-the-art amenities, including reclining seats, onboard infotainment systems, and advanced safety features such as the indigenously developed KAVACH train collision avoidance system. The train’s design also emphasizes sustainability, incorporating energy-efficient air conditioning systems and regenerative braking technology to reduce electricity consumption .

The introduction of these additional coaches is expected to alleviate the strain on existing services and provide passengers with more flexible travel options. As the demand for high-speed, comfortable, and eco-friendly transportation solutions continues to rise, the Mumbai-Gandhinagar Vande Bharat Express stands as a testament to the evolving landscape of India’s rail infrastructure. For travelers planning their journeys, the revised schedule and seating arrangements will be available on the official Western Railway website and through the National Train Enquiry System. Passengers are encouraged to check for updates to ensure a smooth and pleasant travel experience.
