Ahmedabad Narendra Modi Stadium Likely To Host IPL 2025 Final

Ahmedabad’s iconic Narendra Modi Stadium is emerging as the frontrunner to host the IPL 2025 final and Qualifier 2, with dates tentatively set for June 1 and June 3, respectively.

While the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to make a formal announcement, reports suggest Ahmedabad has been earmarked as the likely venue, subject to weather clearance. The BCCI has delayed the official release of the playoff venues as it continues to closely monitor the monsoon’s progression across the country. Though conditions appear favourable in Ahmedabad for early June, officials are waiting for more reliable forecasts before locking in the schedule. Mumbai is being considered for Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator, but its recent heavy rainfall and persistent overcast skies have raised doubts. Should monsoon conditions remain unpredictable, the board may turn to relatively drier North Indian cities such as Delhi, Jaipur, or Lucknow.

However, logistical constraints are significantly influencing the final decision. The BCCI is reluctant to shift the tournament to completely new cities due to the operational burden of transporting and reinstalling broadcast equipment and infrastructure. This is why cities like Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Mohali have been excluded from hosting remaining games — most of them had just one home match left, rendering the move impractical. Kolkata, in particular, has seen unstable weather, and since KKR has completed all home fixtures, Eden Gardens was removed from consideration. Punjab Kings, due to border tensions near Mohali and Dharamsala, have already moved their remaining games to Jaipur.

With six cities currently hosting the remaining 17 league matches, the final and playoff venues are expected to emerge from this list. The BCCI is expected to announce the final schedule soon, depending on how the next few days play out in terms of weather stability. As things stand, Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium — the world’s largest cricket stadium — looks set to provide the grand stage for IPL 2025’s climactic showdown.
