IndiGo Connects Abu Dhabi with Visakhapatnam and Bhubaneswar

IndiGo, India’s leading low-cost carrier, is set to enhance international connectivity by launching direct flights from Abu Dhabi to the Indian cities of Visakhapatnam and Bhubaneswar in June 2025.

This strategic expansion aims to bolster economic ties, facilitate tourism, and provide seamless travel options for the Indian diaspora residing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Starting June 12, 2025, IndiGo will operate thrice-weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and Bhubaneswar on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The following day, June 13, will mark the commencement of four weekly flights connecting Abu Dhabi and Visakhapatnam, scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays

These new routes are part of IndiGo’s broader initiative to expand its international network, which now includes over 100 weekly flights to Abu Dhabi from 15 Indian cities. The airline’s total weekly flights to the UAE have increased to 275, covering 18 Indian cities. The introduction of these flights is expected to significantly impact the socio-economic landscape of both Indian cities. Visakhapatnam, often referred to as the “City of Destiny,” is a major port city on India’s east coast, known for its industrial base and scenic beaches. Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha, is a hub of ancient temples and rapidly growing infrastructure. Direct connectivity to Abu Dhabi is anticipated to boost tourism, attract foreign investment, and provide residents with greater access to international markets.

For the substantial Indian expatriate community in the UAE, these direct flights offer a convenient and efficient travel option to their hometowns. The enhanced connectivity is also expected to facilitate cultural exchanges and strengthen familial ties between the two regions. IndiGo’s expansion aligns with the Indian government’s vision to improve regional connectivity and promote economic development through enhanced air travel infrastructure. The airline’s commitment to providing affordable and timely services continues to make international travel more accessible to a broader segment of the Indian population.

As the aviation industry gradually recovers from the impacts of the global pandemic, initiatives like these signify a positive trajectory towards increased mobility and economic resilience. Passengers are encouraged to check IndiGo’s official website for detailed flight schedules and booking information.
