Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy management and automation
solutions, has announced its commitment to support skilling initiatives in
Karnataka. The company will provide smart infrastructure and increase women
hiring for its manufacturing facility in Mysuru, in collaboration with the
Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Belavadi.
Schneider Electric’s contribution includes setting up an electrical lab at the
institute, equipped with the latest digital and smart energy meters, MCBs
(miniature circuit breakers), switches, and modern house wiring models. This
lab will provide students with hands-on exposure to the latest technological
developments in the electrical field.
Schneider Electric has a significant presence in Karnataka, where it trains
approximately 3,375 youth annually through around 45 skill development
centres, including 16 Women Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). The company
has also established a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru, in partnership
with the Karnataka Skill Ministry and the Ministry of Education, France. The
CoE focuses on training trainers from ITIs and polytechnic institutes in
Karnataka and other states.
