New Terminal at Patna Airport to Boost Connectivity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Bihar on May 30, 2025, to inaugurate the new terminal building at Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport in Patna and lay the foundation stone for the Patna-Sasaram four-lane highway.

These initiatives are part of the government’s broader efforts to enhance infrastructure and connectivity in the state. The new terminal at Patna Airport is set to increase the airport’s passenger handling capacity from the existing 0.7 million to 4.5 million per annum. The terminal building, covering an area of 65,155 square meters, will feature state-of-the-art facilities, including 54 check-in counters, five passenger boarding bridges, and eight in-line baggage screening systems. The design of the terminal is inspired by the Nalanda University ruins and will incorporate elements of Madhubani art, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Bihar.

In addition to the airport development, PM Modi will lay the foundation for the Patna-Sasaram four-lane highway, a project aimed at improving regional connectivity between Patna and Sasaram. This highway is expected to reduce travel time significantly and facilitate smoother transportation of goods and services, thereby boosting economic activities in the region.

The Prime Minister’s visit underscores the government’s commitment to fostering development in Bihar through improved infrastructure. These projects are anticipated to not only enhance connectivity but also stimulate economic growth and create employment opportunities in the state. Residents and stakeholders are optimistic about the positive impact these developments will have on the region’s socio-economic landscape.
