BIAL Collaborates with KPMG to Enhance Airport Operations with AI

Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), the operator of Kempegowda International Airport (BLR), has announced a strategic partnership with KPMG to integrate advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technologies into its operations.

This collaboration aims to enhance operational efficiency and improve passenger experience at one of India’s busiest airports. The partnership will focus on developing a comprehensive AI platform tailored to BIAL’s operational needs. This platform is expected to automate routine tasks, provide AI-driven support across various functions, and enhance resilience by forecasting trends and mitigating potential disruptions. By leveraging real-time data processing and predictive analytics, the system will enable smarter decision-making and more efficient airport operations. In line with global trends, BIAL’s initiative reflects a broader shift towards digital transformation in the aviation industry. Airports worldwide are increasingly adopting AI technologies to streamline operations and enhance the passenger journey. For instance, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport has implemented an AI-powered system called Unified Total Airside Management (UTAM) to streamline airside operations. Similarly, Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport has launched an AI-powered digital twin platform to advance airport management and operations.

BIAL’s collaboration with KPMG is part of its ongoing efforts to position BLR as a digitally advanced travel hub. Previously, BIAL partnered with IBM to create an “Airport in a Box” platform, aiming to transform the end-to-end travel experience for passengers. Additionally, BIAL has established a joint innovation center with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to drive digital innovation and enhance passenger experience through technologies such as cloud computing, machine learning, and robotics. The integration of AI technologies at Bengaluru Airport is expected to not only improve operational efficiency but also contribute to sustainability goals. By optimizing resource utilization and reducing energy consumption, AI solutions can support the development of eco-friendly and sustainable airport operations. This aligns with global initiatives to create zero-net carbon, eco-friendly, and equitable urban spaces.

As the aviation industry continues to evolve, the adoption of AI technologies will play a crucial role in shaping the future of airport operations and passenger experience. BIAL’s partnership with KPMG underscores its commitment to innovation and excellence in the aviation sector.
