Centre Approves Rs 627.44 Crore for Infrastructure Development in Northeast

The Union Ministry of Development of North East Region (DONER) has allocated Rs 627.44 crore for the current fiscal year under the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS) and various schemes of the North Eastern Council (NEC). This funding is earmarked for infrastructure enhancement, with a specific focus on improving inter-state border roads in Assam.

Under the umbrella of the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS) and NEC schemes, a total of Rs 627.44 crore has been sanctioned by the Union Ministry of Development of North East Region (DONER) for the ongoing financial year. This financial support aims to bolster infrastructure, with emphasis on upgrading inter-state border roads in Assam.

According to a recent report by DONER, a total of eleven projects valued at Rs. 625.34 crore have been greenlit under NESIDS (Roads) and implemented through the North Eastern Council (NEC) for the fiscal year 2023-24. Additionally, one project, costing Rs. 2.10 crore, has been approved under the NEC Schemes. Specifically for Assam, two projects under NEC and seven under NESIDS (Roads) have been chosen for implementation during this period.
