Government to Construct Bharat Path from Bharatkund to Ram Temple

The Uttar Pradesh government has proposed the construction of the ‘Bharat Path,’ a 20-kilometre corridor connecting Bharatkund to the Ram temple.

With an estimated investment of ₹900 crore, this project underscores the state’s commitment to accommodating the increasing number of devotees and promoting sustainable urban development. Bharatkund holds profound significance in Hindu mythology, believed to be the site where Lord Ram’s brother, Bharat, performed penance during Ram’s exile. The proposed Bharat Path aims to facilitate a seamless journey for pilgrims, connecting this sacred site to the Ram temple, thereby enriching their spiritual experience.

Following the construction of the Ram temple, Ayodhya has witnessed an unprecedented surge in the number of visitors. To manage this influx and ensure smooth traffic flow, the government is undertaking multiple infrastructure projects, including the development of the Bharat Path. The corridor will feature nine-metre-wide lanes and a 2.5-metre central divider, designed to accommodate both vehicular and pedestrian traffic efficiently. The Bharat Path is part of a larger initiative to transform Ayodhya into a world-class spiritual destination. Other ongoing projects include the Ram Path, Bhakti Path, and Janmabhoomi Path, all aimed at enhancing connectivity and infrastructure in the temple town. These developments are aligned with the government’s vision of creating sustainable and eco-friendly urban spaces that cater to the needs of both residents and visitors.

The Bharat Path project reflects a strategic approach to urban planning, focusing on sustainable development and environmental considerations. By investing in robust infrastructure, the government aims to reduce reliance on conventional road and rail systems, promoting eco-friendly modes of transport. Additionally, the integration of green spaces and pedestrian-friendly pathways aligns with the broader goal of creating zero-net carbon, gender-neutral, and equitable urban environments. The proposed Bharat Path in Ayodhya represents a significant step towards enhancing the city’s infrastructure and accommodating the growing number of pilgrims. By aligning this project with sustainable urban development principles, the Uttar Pradesh government is setting a precedent for future infrastructure initiatives that prioritize environmental sustainability and equitable urban planning.
