The second edition of Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon concluded with a remarkable turnout of over 35,000 runners who came together to support the cause of #RunForZeroHunger.
A highlight of the marathon was Vedanta’s commitment to provide one meal to children for every 1 km run. This pledge amounted to an impressive total of 5 million meals. These nutritious meals were distributed across Vedanta’s network of nearly 6,000 Nand Ghars.
Vedanta recently introduced millet-based nutri-bars, offering supplementary nutrition to children at Anganwadis, including Nand Ghars. The early results from the Nand Ghar network show promising improvements in nutritional outcomes. To share this experience with the marathon participants, every runner received these multi-millet bars.
The Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon also witnessed active participation from nearly 30,000 employees of the title sponsor. Some ran in Delhi, while others joined via mini-marathons in their business locations.
As a token of achievement, finisher’s medals were awarded to the runners. These medals were made from the purest and highest-grade zinc sourced from the world’s largest and oldest mines in Rajasthan, produced by Hindustan Zinc, a vertical of Vedanta Group.
