Mumbai TVS Jupiter CNG India’s first bi-fuel scooter.

TVS Motor Company is set to revolutionise urban commuting with the introduction of the TVS Jupiter CNG, India’s first bi-fuel scooter.

Unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025, this innovative two-wheeler combines compressed natural gas (CNG) and petrol powertrains, offering a combined range of 226 km. With a starting price estimated between ₹95,000 and ₹1,00,000, the Jupiter CNG is poised to become a game-changer in the Indian scooter market. The Jupiter CNG retains the familiar design of the petrol-powered Jupiter 125 but incorporates significant modifications to accommodate its bi-fuel system. A 1.4 kg CNG cylinder is discreetly housed under the seat, while a 2-litre petrol tank is integrated into the floorboard. This configuration eliminates under-seat storage, a trade-off for extended range and reduced emissions. A conveniently located refuelling nozzle allows users to switch between CNG and petrol modes effortlessly.

Powered by a 124.8cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine, the Jupiter CNG delivers 7.2 bhp and 9.4 Nm of torque, paired with a CVT automatic transmission. While the top speed is around 80.5 km/h, the scooter excels in fuel efficiency, achieving 84 km per kg of CNG. This translates to a combined range of 226 km, making it an ideal choice for daily commutes and short trips. Despite the reconfiguration of fuel tanks, the Jupiter CNG does not compromise on features. It comes equipped with an LED headlamp, semi-digital instrument console, USB charging port, side-stand indicator, and an all-in-one lock system. The scooter also boasts the largest seat in its segment, ensuring comfort for riders. However, the absence of under-seat storage may be a consideration for some users.

While TVS has not officially announced the launch date, the Jupiter CNG is expected to be market-ready by the end of 2025. An initial batch of 1,000 units will be released to gauge market response. The scooter is anticipated to be priced competitively, with an expected premium of ₹15,000–₹20,000 over the petrol variant, placing it in the ₹95,000–₹1,00,000 range (ex-showroom). The TVS Jupiter CNG represents a significant step towards sustainable urban mobility in India. By offering a bi-fuel scooter that combines the benefits of CNG and petrol, TVS is catering to the growing demand for eco-friendly and cost-effective transportation solutions. As cities continue to grapple with pollution and traffic congestion, the Jupiter CNG offers a promising alternative that aligns with the vision of zero-net carbon, eco-friendly, and equitable urban environments.
